First: Admission to the College of Arts General Requirements

• The applicant must pass all the first year (College of Arts Track) courses.
• The applicant must obtain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3 out of 5. 

Second: Controls of specialization in the College of Arts:

• Admission is by differentiation based on grade point average and the availability of seats.
• English Language Department requirements: (Earning C rating and above in English Language Course 1 and English language Course 2)

First year

During this first year the students will study a broad range of subjects that will introduce them to various disciplines in the arts and humanities realm.  This exposure will help them make an informed decision on what academic path they wish to pursue in the following years. They will earn 36 credit hours during this first year. 

Second year

In the second year the students will begin to study specialized courses in the field of Arabic language such as:  syntax, morphology, verb inflection, philology, along with studying literature from the pre-Islamic Era to the time of the Umayyad Caliphate. Rhetoric (Semantics) and Classical Arabic critiques will also be covered.

Third Year

During the third year the students will continue to study in depth subjects such as:  Abbasid poetry and prose, pre-Islamic literature, Umayyad literature, linguistics, modern Arabic poetry and Arabic rhetorical thought.

Fourth Year

During this final year the students will delve more into linguistics by studying the syntactic thinking process in Arabic, as well as lexicography, modern Arabic prose, the methods used to analyze poetic texts, terminology as well as learn about discourse analysis.
