Course Main Objective
To study the most important books and authors and most important grammatical and linguistic issues, such as (active element, argumentation, MSA and colloquial language, bilingualism, language academies and their efforts in serving Arabic Language…).
Course Learning Outcomes
- 1. Knowledge and Comprehension
- 1.1 Identify the most famous scholars of grammar and linguistics and their most important books and some of their issues.
- 1.2 Explain the most important issues of grammar and language with which scholars have been concerning in the past and at present.
- 2. Skills
- 2.1 Deduce the scientific opinions and rules included in the textbooks.
- 2.2 Analyze the grammatical and linguistic issues along with weighting and explanation.
- 2.3 Use communication and information technology, and learning resources to learn about those books on grammar and language and the issues offered in the course.
- 3. Values
- 3.1 Assume responsibility of self-learning and development on both individual and collective levels.
- 3.2 Observe values of integrity and the professional and academic ethics and adherence to responsible citizenship.
Course Content
1- An introduction to the scientific corpuses: their definition, types, and a brief about the most important corpuses of grammar and language.
2- A study of (the book) by Sibawayh: about the author, its approach, content, and a study of its most important issues.
3- A study of the book (adab al-katib) by Ibn Qutaybah: about the author, its approach, content, and a study of its most important issues.
4- A study of the book (AlKhasayis) by Ibn Jinni: about the author, its approach, content, and a study of its most important issues.
A study of the book (Al Sahbi in the Jurisprudence of Language) by Ibn Fares: about the author, its approach, content, and a study of its most important issues.
5- A study of the book (Al-Muzhir in Sciences of Language and Its Types) by Al-Suyuti: about the author, its approach, content, and a study of its most important issues.
