Course Main Objective
To learn about dialectology and its disciplines and how to study, the relation of dialect with the language, reasons beyond emergence of the ancient and modern Arabic dialects, etymologizing the contemporary Arabic dialects through studying the dialectic phenomena; learn about the Quranic readings and their relation with the Arabic dialects, unveil the impact of Arabic dialects on the Quranic readings on the phonetic, morphological, syntactic and semantic levels.

- 1.1 Define dialectology and reasons beyond its emergence and types of dialects, the science of Quranic readings and its disciplines.

- 2.2 Use technology and the web regarding information and recordings of readings and dialects.

Course Content
- An introduction to the course and its requirements.
- The concept of dialectology and its importance and approaches, its relation with the other linguistic disciplines (General Linguistics- Geo-Linguistics- Socio-Linguistics).
- The concept of dialect and its relation to language; origin of dialects, transformation of dialect to a language, the linguistic atlas, the geographic and tribal division of the Peninsula.
- The dialects of Modern Standard Arabic (MSA): relation between MSA and the tribal dialects (the attributed dialects and the unattributed dialects).
- Definition of the Quranic readings and reasons of their variety, benefits of their difference, degrees of their validity, difference among the seven readings.
- The Quranic readings and MSA (a study of the dialectic phenomena in the Quranic readings).
- The phonetic level.
- The Quranic readings and the MSA dialects (a study of the dialectic phenomena in the Quranic readings).
- The morphological level.
- The Quranic readings and the MSA dialects (a study of the dialectic phenomena in the Quranic readings).
- The syntactic level
