Course Main Objective
To explain impact of applied linguistics on the modern scientific revolution and on solving the problems of different sciences relating to language making use of its modern theories and branches which encompass all walks of life.

- 1.1 Define the concept of applied linguistics and its sources and theories.

- 2.1 Apply the inputs of applied linguistics to all walks of life.
- 2.2 Use information technology and the internet as well as corpus linguistics in learning more about inputs of applied linguistics effectively.

- 3.1 Make use of theories of applied linguistics in self-learning and teamwork and practicing leadership effectively.
- 3.2 Observe scientific research ethics and academic integrity in performing his duties achieving traits of responsible citizen.
Course Content
- The course deals with the following topics:
- The concept of applied linguistics: its subject, history of origin, aims, relation with other disciplines and difference between it and general linguistics.
- Its modern theories and trends in education and how to benefit from it in Arabic language teaching.
- The behaviorism theory, the cognitive theory- the integrated attitude in teaching languages, the skillful and communicative attitudes.
- Fields of applied linguistics and precedence of Arab scholars in some of which and applying to the contemporary reality of Arabic language:

c- Sociolinguistics
d- Contrastive Linguistics
e- Geolinguistics
f- Computational Linguistics
g- Economic Linguistics
h- Forensic Linguistics.
