What is a patent?
A patent is an intellectual property right granted by a country's government as a territorial right for a limited period.

To legally protect your intellectual property, contribute to a knowledge based economy and transfer the invention to the market.
What is the incentive for disclosing an invention?
Disclosing an invention allows the inventor the opportunity to be acknowledged for the innovation and recognized in their filed of study, while improving the quality of life with their invention
A patent gives exclusive rights to prevent others from using, selling, manufacturing or licensing your idea
What are the terms of patent registration?
The invention must be:
- New: An invention is considered new if it is not available to the public by via oral or written description or in any other format as well.
- Inventive: An invention is considered inventive if it is not obvious or apparent to specialists in that area.
- Industrial applicability: The invention has the capability to be made or used in any kind of industry.
How long is the patent protected?
Patents are protected for 20 years from the filling date.
What factors prevent a patent from being awarded?
A patent is not granted if the invention violates Shari'ah (Islamic Law) or is harmful to living creatures and the environment.
