Poetic Creativity Award
In celebration of selecting the year of 2024 as "the Year of the Camel”, and in recognition of the unique status of the camel within hearts and emotion of the people of the Peninsula, and in belief of the status of poetry in our Arabic culture in the past, at present and in future, College of Arts, represented by “the Culture & Arts Unit”, has launched the Poetic Creativity Award in its third edition, inviting Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (IAU) affiliates: students, faculty members and administrative staff to participate and express their feelings on the topic (the Camel: an Authentic cultural Symbol in KSA).
Objectives of the Award
- To unveil the literary talents and stimulate creative authors for poetic writings.
- To deepen pride of the cultural value of the camel
- To be acquainted with status of the camel within the inner feelings of the Saudi society and its established connection with the people of the Peninsula over times.
Tracks of the Award
Participation can be made in one of the following two tracks:
- Eloquent Arabic Poetry track
SR 5,000 for male/female winner poet
- Nabati Arabic Poetry track
SR 5,000 for male/female winner poet
Stages of the Award
- Receiving participations
as from 23 Jumada Al’Awal 1446 H corresponding to 24 November, 2024AD
- Refereeing participations
as of 7 Rajab 1446H, corresponding to 7 January 2025AD
- Announcement of winners:
14 Rajab, 1446H corresponding to 14 January, 2025AD

Terms & Conditions
- Creative text shall be original which means to be created by the participant himself; otherwise, any other participation shall be rejected.
- Participant shall not present his participation to other bodies.
- IAU shall not be responsible for any participation proved an intellectual property infringement.
- Participant shall acknowledge his agreement that the IAU may promote advertising campaigns and use winners' participations and names in all available advertising media.
- Participant shall not submit his participation to other agencies.
- Any participation shall not include any harm, transgression, slander, defamation, threat or insult or any other prohibited denotations; the IAU shall reserve the right to refuse to publish any participation or dismiss same.
General Provisions for Participations
- Participation shall be written in modern standard Arabic (Eloquent Poetry Track).
- Participation shall adhere to the main idea and theme.
- Participation shall be written in Simplified Arabic and size of font16.
- Language and grammar shall be sound and shall be void of misspelling and errata.
Acceptance Criteria for Poetic Writing (Eloquent- Nabati)
- Shall not less than 10 verses.
- Meter shall be sound and void of poetic mistakes.
- Title shall include a number of features, most important of which are: reference to content of the poem, brevity and inspiration.
- Words shall illustrate meaning and shall be with easy articulation of letters.
- Shall avoid odd or complicated meanings.
- Truth of sentiment.
- Good beginning and good conclusion.
- Accuracy of depiction and illustration of meanings.
FAQ's
- May I participate in both tracks?
Yes, you may participate in both tracks.
- May I participate with more than one poetic text?
Yes, you may participate with more than a text in the same track provided no more than three texts.
- May I modify my participation?
Once participation sent, you may not modify it.
- May I withdraw from the award after submitting the participation?
You may withdraw from the award before 1/1/2025AD.
- Is the award confined to citizens?
Both citizens and residents (inside the university) equally may participate and nominate to the award.
