Lab Description
Clinical laboratory science students are given the opportunity to experiment the essential techniques they have learned in Blood Bank lectures in order to create a full understanding between scientific concepts and their applications.
Aims
- To expose the students to a wide range of techniques involved in routine Blood Banks
- To give the students the opportunity to develop their observation skills, recording and data interpretation skills.
Learning Outcomes
- Students will be able to understand the theoretical aspects behind the techniques used and their role in clinical services.
- Understand and solve some of the problems that might arise in Blood Banks.

- ABO grouping.
- Resolving ABO discrepancies.
- Antibody screening and identification.
- Blood compatibility testing between donor and recipient.
- Transfusion reaction investigation.

- DiaMed Card Centrifuge and Incubator.
