
Clinical Laboratory Sciences Department
The Clinical Laboratory Sciences Department was established in 1998 and since then it has produced qualified laboratory specialists who play a critical role alongside doctors and nurses in the day-to-day business of healthcare, as well as significantly contributing to medical research projects. The graduates receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS), after they successfully complete the four year program of study.
Respiratory Care Department
The Respiratory Care Program develops and refines the clinical and critical thinking skills necessary for the effective and safe delivery of respiratory care modalities.
Physical Therapy Department
Physical Therapy (PT), also known as physiotherapy, is a dynamic profession with an established theoretical base and widespread clinical applications. It is concerned with the promotion of human health, the prevention of disability and the evaluation and rehabilitation of patients disabled by pain, disease or injury. Physical therapeutic measures are used in the treatment.
Physical therapy is provided by or under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist, a specialist in physical therapy. Physical therapists, also known as physiotherapists, are professionally educated at the college or university level and also may obtain clinical specialist certification.
The Department of Physical Therapy in Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University was the second physical therapy program to be established in Saudi Arabia. In 2000 it was opened for male students and then in 2006 it was opened for female students.
Radiological Sciences Department
The Department of Radiological Sciences was established in 2008 for male students and a similar program for female students is currently in the planning stages.
Cardiac Technology Department
Cardiac technology is an allied health profession specifically focused on the diagnosis and management of patients with cardiac and vascular disease. Cardiac technology specialists are highly skilled professionals qualified to provide patient care by using diagnostic echocardiography or by assisting with cardiac catheterization either diagnostically or through intervention.
Clinical Nutrition Department
The Clinical Nutrition program offers the students a strong foundation in the clinical, teaching, research, and management domains through four years of full-time study. After the completion of all required courses the students are required to spend one full year (12 months) training and practicing clinical nutrition while doing rotations in approved hospital wards and specialized health centers.
Emergency Medical Care Department
The Emergency Medical Care (EMC) specialisation is one of the most prominent modern healthcare fields, aiming to provide urgent and life-saving care during critical moments. This program equips specialists with the knowledge and skills to handle emergency medical cases and sudden injuries, whether in the field or during patient transport to medical facilities. The importance of emergency medical care specialisation lies in saving lives by providing emergency care based on the latest scientific foundations by utilising the most advanced devices and technologies available to deliver optimal care to patients. It also enables rapid intervention in the field, using land, air and sea transport methods to deliver acute care before the patient arrives at the hospital, thereby increasing the chances of survival. Additionally, EMC specialists play a fundamental role in disaster and crisis management to minimise their adverse impacts on human health and life.
The Department of Emergency Medical Care was established at the College of Applied Medical Sciences at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University in 2014 (1435 AH). To date, it has graduated over 180 highly skilled EMC specialists who provide top-quality emergency medical care to patients, relying on the latest scientific methods to contribute to saving lives. The program spans four years, followed by an internship year for training in various hospitals across the Kingdom. Upon completing the graduation requirements, graduates receive a Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Medical Care.
