The postgraduate program in science was initiated in1404H to supplement the severe shortage in qualified personal in girls colleges. One of the pioneer programs was in the Dammam College of Science master of science in Botany and Microbiology. Microbiology program graduated holding prominent positions in Saudi universities and colleges.
Masters of Science in Microbiology has two tracks:

In the Biology department we strive to prepare a scientifically competent graduates in the biological sciences. Our graduates are equipped with the knowledge and skills that would allow better serve the local, regional, and global community and solve its problem and ensure the sustainable development of its resources. The focus of the biology program on the Arabian Gulf because of its location on the Gulf shorelines. Furthermore, the Arabian is known of its unique terrestrial and marine biodiversity, the wealth of its oil, agricultural resources.

Graduation Requirements
Program Structure:
Consists of courses and research.
- 30 credit hours (in 2 years) are required for successful graduation.
- 24 credit hours are for course work (span 2 semester)
- 6 credit hours are to be covered in the 3rd and 4th semesters as master’s research project.
