The College of Science at Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University is one of the oldest and largest colleges in the university. It was founded in 1399 AH (1979). The first batch of students graduated was 112 students in 1402/1403 AH. The number is increased successfully as the college continued to develop and expand its scientific standing in the community.
The College of Science offers academic programs with specialized qualitative paths that include undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The bachelor's degrees are awarded in six scientific programs: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Statistics and Data Sciences, and Environmental Sciences.
There are 200 full-time faculty members with various scientific degrees and disciplines, and about 2,300 female students. Master's and doctoral degrees are also awarded within several postgraduate programs that are linked to issues of great importance to modern society and aligned with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.
The College of Science has a strategic plan that is considered the core umbrella from which all the college's educational , research and community initiatives are launched. Its strategic plan is based on a clear and ambitious message aligned with the mission of Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University and consistent with national aspirations and visions.
"Providing outstanding academic programs and scientific research with continuous quality aligned with sustainable national development plans, within an attractive and innovative environment, and with an effective community partnership" The College of Science constantly strives for excellence to occupy an advanced position within the faculties of science in the corresponding universities. It works to provide academic programs with learning outcomes that achieve the graduation of a sustainable student who is “capable of lifelong learning”, who is armed with the necessary skills within a stimulating educational environment that ensures continuous quality through certified performance indicators.
The College of Science has pursued the continuous development and upgrading of its outputs to keep pace with the recent scientific development with the commitment to constantly review and update these programs outputs. This commitment is being driven by Saudi Arabia’s aspirations, the promising ambitious strategies, and the cooperation with our partners in various scopes. The College of Science is committed to diligently developing an interactive and quality program that meets the need of the labor market for qualified national cadres who are capable of research and addressing social issues.
The College of Science continuously supports scientific research, promotes its outputs, and directs its priorities to serve “environmental sustainability and basic needs” associated with human basic needs for water, food and energy in a sustainable manner, through the development of modern, environmentally friendly and sustainable technologies.
The College of Science is interested in fulfilling its role in serving the community through educational and training programs and social activities that meet the needs of the community and respond to its developments within the College’s specialization and future directions.
In the College of Science, we all work to apply the highest standards of quality performance through a highly qualified academic, administrative and technical system to us strengthen our pursuit of academic accreditation for all our programs.
Recently, the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Bachelor of Science in Biology programs have received full program accreditation from the “Education and Training Evaluation Authority represented at the National Center for Evaluation and Academic Accreditation” and soon we look forward to accrediting the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Bachelor of Science in Physics programmes. We are also moving forward with more national and international accreditation for our programs.
