Mission

 Through excellence in research skills in all health-related aspects, namely: public health, health informatics, and environmental health, the graduates from the PhD in Health program will enhance the overall health quality in Saudi Arabia, which is aligned with the Saudi vision 2030.

Program Learning Outcomes

Knowledge.1: Recognize the multidisciplinary skills and knowledge that are required to improve health sciences and practice.
Knowledge.2: Outline the different types of research and evaluation methods to address health issues at multiple levels.
Skills.1: Employ knowledge, methods, skills, and potential contributions which were integrated from multiple professions and systems to address health-related issues.
Skills.2: Develop research with the highest ethical standards, scientific integrity, and interpersonal collegiality.
Skills.3: Demonstrate an ability to statistically analyze and interpret study results in light of collected data and prior research.
Skills.4: Design qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods to address a health-related research question.
Skills.5: Demonstrate effective communication skills through written and oral methods to audiences.
Values.1: Show team building, negotiation, and problem-solving skills to create interprofessional strategies to address public health problems.
Values.2: Demonstrate ethical behavior with knowledge of existing policies/practices in their field of work.

Graduates are required to:

1. Excel in scientific research in health-related areas
2. Communicate scientific findings conducted in their doctoral theses to government agencies and scholarly audience.
3. Be self-employable. They should be able to start their own organizations/ companies that make use of the skills they have gained during the program.
4. Employable in the public sector.
5. Be decision-makers in the country to apply Saudi vision 2030.
6. Assist in teaching, to prepare the students to excel in any institutional settings whether universities, industry, or research institutes.

Admission Requirements

1. The applicant must have obtained a master's degree from a Saudi university or from another recognized university.
2. To be of good conduct, and medically fit.
3. He/she must submit two scientific recommendations from faculty members who previously taught him.
4. Approval of his reference to the study if he is employed.
5. A grade of (Very Good) at least at the master's level is required.
6. The applicant must pay the application fee (non-refundable), and tuition fees once accepted.
7. A minimal IELTS score of 5.5 or another equivalent English test.
8. He or she must pass a personal interview or any other examination that the program/department deems necessary.
9. A minimum of two years of work experience in the field of health, or the applicant must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in the health field.
10. A research proposal to be evaluated and reviewed by the acceptance committee is required upon the application.
11. Having at least two published peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals.
