Master of Science in Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety is one of the most important programs on which health facilities depend. The program was established under the umbrella of Health Information Management and Technology department at the college of Public Health. The program aims at having graduates qualified in assessing the healthcare quality and patient safety and looking for opportunities to improve them. This can be done through the application of different well-known techniques approved nationally and internationally learnt during the program courses.

1. Applicants must have bachelor's degree in a relevant medical field from a Saudi university or other university which is accredited by the Saudi Ministry of Higher Education.
2. Cumulative GPA that is at least 3.50/5.00.
3. At least two years of full time work experience in the field of quality of care, hospital management, or similar healthcare field. Exemption will be limited to a few number of student applicants.
4. A minimal IELTS score of 5.5 or its equivalent.
5. Applicants must pass the written exam and the personal interview.
6. Provide an employer’s approval and two letters of reference.

The course lasts for two full years. Classes and meetings occur during working 5 days a week during semesters. Students must complete all of the components of the course to receive a MSc degree.

The student studies Introduction to healthcare quality management, Health information management and technology, Ethical and legal issues in healthcare, Heath policy and regulation.

First year - Semester (II):

The student studies Quality Improvement in Health System and Accreditation, Research methods in quality and patient safety, Application of biostatistics in healthcare quality.

First year - Semester (III):

The student studies Leadership and organization change management, Quality Measurement and Performance Improvement, Health Informatics and Analytics Independent Studies/Professional Field Experience.

Second year - Semester (I):

 The student Seminars in Healthcare Improvement and Patient SafetyPatient Safety and Risk Managemen, Project management in healthcare 

Second year - Semester (II):

The student studies The Landscape of Healthcare Quality in Saudi Arabia ,Capstone Project, (thesis) if the thesis system.

Second year - Semester (III):

The student studies Capstone Project, (thesis) if the thesis system.
