Master of Environmental Health (MEH)

In response to the requirements of Vision 2030 for the environmental protection and due to the high demand of many health, industrial and government sectors, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University have recently established a postgraduate program by offering Master's degree in Environmental Health. The program is under the umbrella of Environmental Health Department, College of Public Health. The program aims to qualify national cadres specialized in the field of environment in various disciplines. The program offers a Master's degree of Environmental Health in Industrial Hygiene Track.

Objectives of MEH:

At the completion of the MEH degree, the student will be:

1. Fully oriented with all environmental health fields.
2. Able to identify local and international environmental issues which are related to health and wellbeing.
3. Able to deal with the missions that require problem-solving capabilities for various integral components of environment.
4. Able to follow different environmental laws and ethics at the workplace.

1. The applicant must satisfy the unified rules for acceptance in postgraduate programs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Universities. Applicants who are graduated from international/abroad universities may be accepted if their university is accredited by the Saudi Ministry of Education.
2. Applications from non-Saudi nationals may be accepted in the program according to the rules and regulations of the IAU and Ministry of Education 
3. The applicant must hold bachelor’s degree in any discipline (Medical, Engineering, Science or any Environmental specialties from any university recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education of the KSA.
4. The cumulative GPA must not be less than 3.25 out of 5.
5. The applicant must satisfy English language requirement (minimum of 5.0 in IELTS score or equivalent of other acceptable English language tests.
6. Applicants must submit two recommendation letters.
7. A minimum of two years of work experience in the field of health or environmental disciplines is preferred.
8. Applicant must pass a personal interview or any other examination that the college deems necessary.
9. Applicant must submit evidence of tuition fee payment for at least one semester. (twenty-five thousand Saudi Riyal for each semester and total of one hundred thousand for the whole master program).
10. Applicants have the right to choose their specialization (Industrial hygiene/ Environmental Management) and have one chance to change the specialty during the study course within the first semester.

The course lasts for two full years. Classes and meetings occur during working 5 days a week during semesters. Students must complete all of the components of the course to receive a MSc degree.

MEH – Industrial Hygiene Track                          

First year - Semester (I):

The student studies Environmental Auditing & Management Systems, Environmental Health and Epidemiology, Occupational Hygiene Practices

First year - Semester (II):

The student studies Statistics for Health Research , Air quality and Control , Fundamentals of Occupational Safety

First year - Semester (III):

The student studies Occupational Hygiene Application , Indoor air quality characterization & control , Elective course ( Air Sampling and Analysis , Air and Noise Pollution: Monitoring and Control , Occupational Ventilation and Hazard Control , Physical Agents and Ergonomic Hazards in the Workplace , Public Health, Transportation, and the Built Environment , Radiological Health)

Second year - Semester (I):

 The student Occupational Accidents , Principles of Occupational Toxicology , Elective course( Air Sampling and Analysis , Air and Noise Pollution: Monitoring and Control , Occupational Ventilation and Hazard Control , Physical Agents and Ergonomic Hazards in the Workplace , Public Health, Transportation, and the Built Environment , Radiological Health) , Thesis/ Dissertation
