IAU Environmental Engineering Laboratory

The IAU Environmental Engineering Laboratory is a teaching & research facility that affords students pro-active prospects to explore for all kinds of fields comprising of water treatment, solid waste, wastewater treatment, and air-pollution control. Our IAU comprises of nine laboratories with necessary sufficient space, instrumentation, and other dedicated devices for laboratory courses offered in the undergraduate program: water chemistry, environmental microbiology, physical and chemical processes, and microbiological processes, in addition to the usual analytical equipment and other pilot-scale treatment modules. Students in the laboratory courses too have entree to the research workroom's devices when highly advanced critical practices are required. Students also gain skill to computer-based control techniques and other software schemes like data-acquisition practices through their research studies.
Abundant joint and interdisciplinary ventures increase the list of contributions as a faculty, staff and students from several specialisms work as research teams on various funded research projects within the department, outside departments & within other universities or firms inside the kingdom (KSA). Student creativity is fortified in apprehending and steering research, and in communicating outcomes, and student contribution in research projects is important to us. The size and multiplicity of the research program increase classroom teaching and arouse a level of exhilaration for education through research that is sporadic.

Contemporary research covers of laboratory and field lessons on the following summed up area cited below:

  • Physical, chemical, and biological procedures and mechanisms accountable for the proclamation, conveyance, alteration and preservation of pollutants.
  • Pollutant control procedures (predominantly the exclusion of trace& toxins or pollutants).
  • Basic ideologies of physical, chemical, and biological conduct knowhows for water, wastewater and solid wastes scums or residues from different sources.
  • Pollutant control measures for Air, other contaminants removal from air & its monitoring (gases, Particulate matters & Meteorological parameters etc.).
