Vision, Mission, and Goals

VISION

To be one of the leading multidisciplinary journals locally, regionally, and internationally.

MISSION

To disseminate knowledge of medical and health research using a high-quality standard of research and publications.

GOALS

The goal is to use a novel and extensive publication process that reinforces upon the authors the rigorous standards expected for published research, resulting in higher-quality research output. This, in turn, would help SJMMS achieve/maintain indexing in relevant bodies and thus have wider dissemination of knowledge it publishes.

Editor-in-Chief’s Message

I would like to thank you for visiting this webpage of Saudi Journal of Medicine & Medical Sciences (SJMMS), the official scientific publication of Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (IAU). SJMMS functions as an independent body with all decision-making capacity solely with the Editor-in-Chief.

SJMMS was launched in 2013 by IAU with a vision of becoming a leading general medical and health sciences journal that disseminates knowledge through its published articles to researchers worldwide. This fell directly in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which emphasized on research and innovation as being two key elements in transforming the Kingdom to a knowledge-based economy. We, as Editors of SJMMS, are pleased to fulfil our part in the realization of this effort, as the Journal is on the path to achieving its goals.

SJMMS upholds high commitment to only publishing articles with the highest levels of quality, accuracy and clarity and ensures that the highest levels of publication and ethical standards are followed and adhered. Accordingly, we closely work with authors to ensure that recommendations produced by bodies such as ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors), WAME (World Association of Medical Editors) and COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) are followed along with the use of the relevant reporting guidelines recommended by the EQUATOR Network. These measures have directly resulted in SJMMS becoming a member of COPE and in being indexed in PubMed (PMC), Web of Science (ESCI), Scopus, Embase, and DOAJ.

Lastly, I would like to highlight that contrary to what the Journal’s name implies, the Journal is a vehicle for dissemination of knowledge globally, as each year, it receives submissions from >60 countries and readership from >160 countries.

I hope you find the above information useful and consider submitting your valuable research to SJMMS for publication consideration. Please contact us if you may have any queries.
