The Library Systems Department is committed to acquiring and making information and communication technologies readily available to enhance library services, while also supporting the goals of not only the Directorate of Library Affairs, but the goals of Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University as well. This department provides library users and staff with state-of-the-art library services, tools, and skills. 

Functions

  • Support students and faculty in teaching, learning and research, while identifying and addressing their academic needs.
  • Provide timely, secure, reliable and ubiquitous access to information and online services.
  • Support the University’s education, research and community service goals.
  • Acquire and provide access to IAU’s library information resources.
  • Recommend solutions to address library IT related requirements as articulated by students, faculty and staff.
  • Provide library staff with the necessary skill sets to support and teach technology to the patrons.
  • Provide state-of-the-art information technology for all users.
  • Explore new technology and media for innovative delivery of services and resources.
  • Formalize the e-resources’ hosted services.
  • Sustain latest library technologies and trends.
  • Investigate and implement new discovery tools.
  • Implement and manage integrated library systems.
  • Create, implement and manage IAU’s institutional repository.
  • Implement and manage library security systems.
