Launch of the Professional Fellowship Program in University Teaching and Learning (PFUTL) at Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University with International Partner University of Turku

H.E. the President of Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, Prof. Abdullah M. Al-Rubaish, launched the Professional Fellowship Program in University Teaching and Learning (PFUTL) for faculty members with the international partnership with the University of Turku (Finland) on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2021, at the Deanship of Academic Development.  The Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ghazi A. Al-Otaibi, the Dean of Academic Development, Dr. Mohammed S. Alkathiri, and the Vice-Rector of the University of Turku, Prof. Kalle-Antti Suominen and Educational Specialist Dr. Erkki Härkönen, along with several other delegates from IAU and Turku participated in the program event. The PFUTL is a one-year academic development program that offers recognition and certification for university educators as Professional Fellows in teaching and learning.

The launch event, attended by more than 150 people both in-person and virtually, provided an overview of the PFUTL program including its importance, key features, and benefits. The IAU and Turku delegates also highlighted the enduring partnership and joint projects between the universities that began in 2018.   His Excellency Prof. Al-Rubaish closed the launch event and affirmed the university’s interest and support for the development of university education to achieve strategic objectives and contribute to the quality of teaching and learning practices and experiences for all stakeholders.

Applications for the professional fellowship program will be open from September 5, 2021 through the program’s online portal and continue to September 23.  All interested faculty members in Saudi universities are encouraged to apply.
