Master of Science in Architecture

History of the program:

Architecture is a most essential and old need, which represents one of the most visible cultural expressions of societies. The history of architecture is the history of human being both socially and culturally. The present and future of architecture is an indication of the present and future of mankind. The education of architects in the Department of Architecture at the University of Dammam takes the responsibility of addressing these concerns and issues in regards to the regional and international context. The postgraduate curriculum of this program prepares students with knowledge and skills to make original contribution in the field of architecture by enhancing the quality of built environment to be more sustainable and healthier and addressing the social and cultural characteristics of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Objectives:

The Master of Architecture program was designed to enable the student to gain knowledge that will enable to be:

• An aware of the latest knowledge in the area of specialization.
• An aware of research methods and techniques.
• Able to conduct research studies in the area of specialization.

Graduation Requirements:

- Compulsory course credits:  9 Hours-
- Elective course credits: 9 Hours
- Elective course credits in the area of emphasis:  9 Hours
- Elective courses:  3 Hours
- Thesis:  6 Hours

1. Application procedure

Admission and registration of graduate students should be conducted through the Deanship of Graduate Studies in coordination with the Deanship of Admission and Registration.

2.  Rules of Acceptance 

• The applicant should be a Saudi, or on an official scholarship for graduate studies if not a Saudi.
• The obtained bachelor degree should be from a Saudi university or an accredited one.
• The applicant should be of good conduct and physically fit.
• Two scientific recommendations written by former instructors are to be provided.
• The approval of the applicant's employer if employed.
• Bachelor’s degree in the same field GPA must not be less than Good (3.25 from 5 or 2.25 from 4).
• Pass the English test IELTS (5) degree or its equivalent.
