TabsSummaryDr Montasir is the present Chairman of the Landscape Architecture Department. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture (BLA) in 1998 with Dean’s List from King Faisal University – currently known as Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University. Since then, he has been contributing to teaching several theoretical and practical courses in the department, in addition to his active participation in administrative activities and departmental responsibilities. He pursued his higher studies and received the Master of Landscape Architecture degree (MLA) form the University of Colorado at Denver, USA, in 2003 and the PhD from the University of Edinburgh, UK, in 2017. During the MLA, he was awarded the outstanding graduate (with highest grade point average, class ranking and overall academic excellence), featured in the 2002-2003 edition of the Dean’s List, selected to be a member of the Tau Sigma Delta (an honorary academic society in Architecture and Allied Arts) and also awarded the Prince Bandar Bin Sultan Prize for Academic Excellence. His research interest focuses on environmental behavior studies, landscape design, outdoor thermal comfort, urban design and reclaiming urban streets to restore pedestrians and walking into the street space. Between 2003-2009, Montasir joined the design team for the outdoor spaces of newly established public campuses in the Kingdom.
