Course Description
Students will gain specific knowledge of common obstetric & gynecological conditions & emergencies encountered by paramedics, including normal and abnormal obstetric presentations and management of the neonate. Teaching will include the presentation, history, risk factors & clinical management of each of these emergencies. The aim of the course is to enable students to correctly diagnose and competently manage any obstetric & gynecological emergency/potential emergency relevant to their practice as a paramedic. The focus of this clinically-oriented course is to foster & develop a competent level of "hands-on" practical management of all pre-hospital obstetric & gynecological emergencies. Students will also be expected to use an evidence-based practice approach to the clinical management of their obstetric & gynecological patient.
