Course Main Objective
To make student acquainted with the degree of interaction among the different world literatures and the position of the Arabic literature in order to unveil the importance of effect and influence between different cultures and literatures and further train student on aspects of comparisons in different literary and critical genres so that she could be able to create a scientific skill and knowledge that enable her to distinguish the originality of the Arabic literature from the other foreign literatures.

- 1.1 Explain the concept of comparative literature and aspects of intellectual cross-fertilization and the effect and influence between the Arabic literature and other world literatures.

- 2.1 Distinguish aspects of congruity and influence between the Arabic literature and the world literatures, the different western literature approaches and the originality which distinguish the Arabic literature from other literatures.
- 2.2 Use communication and information technology, learning resources and communicate effectively orally and in writing upon preparing the course-related assignments.

- 3.1 Assume individual, collective and leading responsibility in personal relationships and the literary assignments.
- 3.2 Observe scientific research ethics and academic integrity in performing his literary duties achieving the traits of responsible citizen.

1. An introduction about the course and its requirements.
2. The concept of comparative literature; history of the origin of comparative literature.
3. The current status of comparative studies in the west universities and the Egyptian universities.
4. Tools of the researcher in comparative literature
5. Research fields in comparative literature.
6. Comparative literature research and approaches.
7. Universality of literature.
8. Interpretation of literature.
9. Literary patterns- effect of a literary book on the other literatures.
10. Literary genres: epic- the drama in Arabic literature- the myth or the fable in eastern and western literature
11. Story in the western literatures and the Arabic literature- the literary approaches: comparative studies of literary approaches.
