Course Main Objective
To make students acquainted with curriculum of the Islamic literature: its concepts, purposes, criteria, fields and further with the intellectual and aesthetic functions of Islamic literature and realize the concept of compliance and its relation with the Islamic literature and to recognize position of the Islamic literature curriculum within the other literary and intellectual curricula.

- 1.1 Identify the concept of Islamic literature, its references and its standing from the Western doctrines.
- 2. Skills
- 2.1 Distinguish the Islamic approach upon dealing with literary work and issues of criticism concerning form and content, compliance and purposes and to what extent it is aligned with the Islamic vision of literature in case of being non-Muslim writer.
- 2.2 Use communication and information technology in referring to learning resources upon tackling an issue relating to the Islamic literature curriculum.
- 2.3 Manage a critical dialogue about issues of the Islamic literature theory.
- 3. Values
- 3.1 Assume individual, collective and leading responsibility upon performing assignments of the Islamic literature curriculum.
- 3.2 Observe the Islamic values and the academic ethics upon performing the assignments achieving the scientific integrity and traits of the responsible citizen.
Course Content
1. An introduction about the course and its requirements and introductions to the Islamic literature curriculum: (the term of Islamic literature, definition of Islamic literature, the ancient and modern Islamic literature, reference of the Islamic literature: author or text?
2. The Islamic literature and other literatures:
3. a- the Arabic literature, b- Islamic people's literature, c- world literature, d- folklore
4. History of call to the Islamic literature.
5. Our need to the Islamic literature
6. Introductions to the Islamic literature curriculum
7. The Islamic literature's standing from purposes of poetry: (purpose of Ghazal "love poetry", purpose of praise, purpose of satire).
8. The Islamic literature's standing from issues of literary criticism: (form and content, compliance)
9. The Islamic literature's standing from issues of man and life: (depiction of evil, depiction of gender relationship, depiction of Islamic issues).
10. Modern literary criticism approaches and Islam's view towards them.
