Course description
This course provides students with a series of learning opportunities designed to explore basic concepts of design management and entrepreneurship from theoretical and applied perspectives. In today’s world, Industrial Design is central to innovation, and the creation of new businesses and business models. Thus, an understanding of basic principles of design management and entrepreneurship is crucial, especially for students who are looking forward to create their own design consultancies or businesses. Industrial designers operate within, or create their own commercial enterprises to provide goods and services to consumers, to generate profit. Design management tools enable designers to manage and lead design projects, operations or processes to achieve an outcome. Furthermore, entrepreneurship tools enable designers to develop their own businesses. Students will research and explain to their peers the diverse related topics, writing individual report which will be vetted and compiled by the lecturer as reference material. By using case studies and examples, groups of students will simulate the creation of a new business, presenting their proposal as a final project
