Course Description
Desalination fundamentals and other industrial aspects of this field will be presented. Processes that are widely used in industry will be discussed, such as: multistage flash desalination and reverse osmosis as well as other desalination processes. Case studies extracted from existing desalination plants will be read and discussed and comparisons of model predictions and available experimental and industrial data will be critiqued. Several industries include similar process fundamentals and design procedures of the desalination process and unit operation such as:| evaporators, condensers, flashing units, membrane separation, and chemical treatment. These industries include: wastewater treatment, food, petroleum, petrochemical, power generation as well as pulp and paper.
