An informative workshop, entitled: Workforce Assessment was held with a variety of local business professionals at UoD’s College of Arts on the Al Rayan Campus, on Wednesday, February 2, 2015 in order to assess the quality of UoD’s graduates. The goal of this workshop was to evaluate and get feedback from local businesses regarding the quality and skills of UoD’s recent graduates and see what areas can be developed and improved in order to serve the needs of the labor market while fulfilling the vision of UoD by achieving excellence nationally and internationally.
Dr. Amirah Ahmed Al-Jafary, the Dean of the College of Arts, started off the workshop with a speech where she highlighted the importance of developing academic programs, that not only serve the students intellectually, but also prepare the students professionally for the demands of the job market, while keeping current with global trends and standards.
The Workforce Assessment Workshop was divided into three sessions:
- First session: Evaluating the Vision and Mission of the College of Arts and its Programs, Dr. Iman Saleh, Vice Dean of Quality Assurance and Academic Excellence.
- Second Session: Evaluating the College Graduates, Dr. Maha Bakr
- Third Session: The Characteristics of College Graduate, Dr. Badriyah Al-Hajji and Dr. Maleeha Al-Zahrani.
The workshop concluded with a series of discussions on what direction the College should take in order to produce innovative, professional graduates who will fulfill the requirements delineated in the national development plans while meeting the future demands of the job market.
