Under the slogan “Towards a Healthy Posture” The community service engagement committee at the Department of Physical Therapy in the College of Applied Medical Science in IAU, started its postural screening program at an elementary school in Al Khobar. The screening program included educational lectures and materials that explains what a healthy posture is and the possible injuries and defects that elementary school children may experience around 500 primary school children attended the educational lectures and received educational materials prepared by the faculty of IAU's Physical Therapy department. Furthermore, a diagnostic screening program was carried out for more than 300 elementary school students where state of the art equipment was used to detect any spinal or postural defects, supplied by the research center that was founded by Dr. Qassim Muaidi, Dean of the College of Applied Medical Science. The day was concluded with workshops and lectures that for the school's teachers. During the screening program parents were notified if anything unusual was seen to visit the Physical Therapy clinic at IAU for further evaluation and treatment. At the end of the event, Dr. Faisal Albagmi, Head of the committee signed a partnership agreement with Dhahran Educational district to promote future cooperation and expand the postural screening program to include all the elementary schools in the community.
