In Technology and Human Capacity Building
Within the framework of the Kingdom’s interest in scientific research along with Ministry of Education’s initiative for scientific research support in Saudi universities with efforts of Saudi Aramco toward localization of cybersecurity technology and human capacity building; The Saudi Aramco Chair in Cyber Security at Imam Abdul Rahman bin Faisal University has presented (30) research since it was founded in 2020.
Commenting on the cooperation between Aramco and the university, the Vice President of Information Technology at Saudi Aramco, Eng. Yousef Al-Olayan stressed the importance of scientific research and innovations, especially in cybersecurity, and praised the cooperation IAU saying it represents an extension for Aramco history in building bridges of cooperation with universities and academic institutions in the Kingdom and abroad, adding that, it also embodies one of Aramco major objectives in field of localizing cybersecurity technology, and building human capabilities in the Kingdom by supporting Saudi Aramco Chair of Cyber Security at IAU.
H.E, IAU Vice President for Scientific Research and Innovation, Dr. Fahd bin Ahmed Al-Harbi, said that IAU is one of the prominent research institutions over the Kingdom for it has many researchers interested in publishing in all specialties via various journals and periodicals, adding that, IAU commitment to scientific research is not only manifested through publishing on journals, but also through the many research units and centers that support research, including but not limited to; Deanship of Scientific Research , Institute of Research Medical Consultations(IRMC), Publishing and Translation Center, Basic and Applied Scientific Researches Center, Patent and Technology Transfer Office, moreover, technology development and commercialization for achieving the principle of technology-based economy.
Director of Information Protection Department at Saudi Aramco, Eng. Omar Al-Thukair, praised the close collaboration and continuous communication with the university in field of scientific research under Saudi Aramco Chair for Cyber Security, pointing to the importance of cooperation to benefit from cybersecurity research in many fields and practical applications, stressing on the continuation of cooperation between the two parties to reach the desired shared goals for benefiting Aramco, IAU, and the researchers.
