UOD Workshop
The Deanship of University Educational Development at the University of Dammam held a workshop in the Deanship’s office for men and women faculty members on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 entitled: Preparing Teaching Assistants and Lecturers for Scholarships. UOD professors led this one day workshop that included six informative sessions.
The workshop addressed different issues, including one presented by Dr. Amer Al Omar, the Dean of Graduate Studies for Scholarships and Training Affairs, who discussed the University’s policies regarding scholarships. Dr. Amany Al Ghamdi, the Vice Dean of the College of Education, tackled the issue of how to cope during alienation and Dr. Umad Al Shuwaymi, the Vice Dean of the College of Medicine for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, highlighted the challenges of alienation and how to overcome them stating, “Graduate school can be a difficult time for some students with new challenges such as a lack of security, alienation, language, the rigors of study and the high cost of living, but if these challenges are addressed beforehand then students on scholarships are usually able to avoid common mistakes.” Dr. Fahad Al Khamis spoke about Becker Professional Education and its role in serving scholarship students. The concluding session featured representatives of the American, British and Australian embassies who addressed various student related topics.
