IAU Presidnet, Dr. Abdullah Al-Rubaish (Yesterday, Wednesday), inaugurated an event was organized by KFHU Department of Radiology in collaboration with Department of Radiological Sciences of College of Applied Medical Sciences by the way of Radiology World in Al-Khobar (in Ajdan Walk). The event was attended by KFHU Director General, Prof. Muhammad AlShahrani, the CEO Ajdan Walk, Mr. Muhammad Al-Otaibi, the head of RD, Dr.Tariq Hegazy, the Dean of Applied Medical Sciences College, Dr. Omer Al-Omar, and many of hospital and department employees.
“This event demonstrates IAU mission and service provided to the surrounding community, and it is an awareness campaign of a social and scientific dimension to enlighten the community with radiology and the services provided by the hospital” Dr. Al-Rubaish stated adding that “The department is the most integrated department whilst serves a very wide sectors of beneficiaries in and out the Eastern Region”. He also commended the staff for their efforts in organizing this event, wishing conveyance of the desired message.
“This event is an extension for many activities and programs carried out by KFHU through its specialized departments, benefit members of the community and provide experience for medical staff”, the Director General of the Hospital, Dr. Muhammad Al-Shahrani stated, pointing out that the activation of World Days has a scientific and social dimension that defines the community with their importance, and that its activation by the hospital enhances its role and mission in raising awareness, wishing success for all.
Dr. Adnan Samara, Diagnostic Radiology Consultant, the campaign supervisor, pointed out that they were keen to have this campaign under the umbrella of “Al-Sharqiyah Innovate” in order to gain access to the largest sector of the community and to convey a messages that we are here for them, adding that they introduced to visitors, through multiple corners relies on aspects of attraction, the benefits and harms of radiation, its dangers and how to avoid it. In addition to talk about X-rays, CT scans, ultrasound, and MRI, their risks and ways of prevention, noting that the goal is to deliver the message to the visitors to view the activities on this day.
The number of visitors during the campaign reached 1,300 visitors in two days, and the number of participants from the medical staff, including consultants, radiologists, faculty members, and internship students, reached 100 participants.
Regarding the upcoming activities, Dr. Samara narrated that health education will not stop, and World Days must be invested for awareness stressing that there are many days to reach community members in various ways.
It is worth mentioning that the event achieves one of the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 "a vibrant society", and the event, in addition to raising awareness, reviews the latest technologies in field of radiology, where radiology is a rapidly renewable science, as it is called the eye of medicine.
