The UI GreenMetric World University Ranking launched the 2019 GreenMetric rating that consists of 780 worldwide universities compared with last year's 719 universities. Six Saudi universities were ranked this year, 3 universities have been recently added to the list. The newly added universities that joined the classification list are Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, Qassim University, and Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University.
The classification list for Saudi university rankings revealed that King Abdulaziz University remained in the first place, Princess Nourah Bint AbdulRahman University in the second place, Qassim University the third place and Jeddah University moved down to the fifth place after Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University earned the fourth place. Finally, Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University gained a 7th place.
GreenMetric is a World University Ranking system that provides classifications concerning environmental safety on campuses according to greenery and open areas in comparison with the total area of the university and its populace. In addition to the university's concern in the use of energy, change in climate, smart buildings, water, organic and non-organic matter recycling which gives a university a distinct significance within its community.
