Culture and Arts Unit at College of Arts- Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University (IAU) has organized its first program for the academic year 1445 H represented in holding a lecture deals with the relation between literature and the brain entitled “How Literature Affects the Brain, the Neuroscience of Reading and Art” delivered by both the novelist and critic Mr. Abdulla Al-Wesaly and the consultant neurologist Dr. Fahd Al-Khamees at the College’s theatre attended by a number of the affiliates and students.

Dean of College of Arts Dr. Meshaiel Al-Okly has asserted that organizing such lecture comes within the efforts exerted by Culture and Arts Unit to enrich knowledge in the academic life and participate in creative industry in the different cultural fields pointing out that the said lecture has demonstrated a new concept in the relation of literature to Neurology through reviewing the book (How Literature Affects the Brain) translated by the novelist and critic Mr. Abdulla Al-Wesaly. Conveying such new ideas in considered a qualitative attribute to the field of Arabic Criticism, she explained.

Head of the Culture and Arts Unit Dr. Abdel Aziz Al Soliman has added that the lecture has applied the idea of “interdisciplinary” in sciences practically being it is a process of interaction and exchange of knowledge among different specializations that may lead to an integration of some specializations to produce new ones. Hence, such cognitive enrichments are important in the practical and cultural life, he underlined.
