The 15th Annual Dental Symposium at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University

Under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Muhammad Al-Rubaish, President of Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, the 15th Dental Symposium was launched on the 30th of November 2022.

The symposium was titled “Innovative Dentistry”. It was organized by the College of Dentistry in the University with the collaboration of local and global elite experts and specialists. It lasted for 3 days at the Sheraton Hotel, Dammam, and was attended by Dr. Fahad Al-Harbi, Vice President for Scientific Research and Innovation, and Dr. Yousef Al-Jandan, former President of King Faisal University. 

The President of the University, Dr. Abdullah Al-Rubaish, mentioned that: the University, within its strategic objectives emerged from the National Vision, seeks to provide high-quality knowledge and research services with the activation of societal participation. It also strives to develop the scientific research and innovation system, as well as to strengthen the collaboration between its various components, and to provide them with the elements of success through setting up regulations and legislations that help making and taking decision and creating a supportive and motivating environment. It additionally works on providing opportunities of exchanging expertise and experiences to stay current with the top modern technology and make them accessible as practices, policies, and applications which ensures keeping pace with the rapid development and growth in different fields including the medical aspect and the health services offered by its hospitals. 

 

The Dean of the College of Dentistry at the university, Dr. Jehan Al-Humaid explained saying that: this symposium hosted a distinguished group of experts and researchers with their scientific bases and their various schools who came from different parts of the world to review "Innovative Dentistry". The symposium coincides with the 20th anniversary of the College of Dentistry establishment at the Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, and it aims at highlighting the University’s role in supporting the field of innovation. Dr. Al-Humaid also indicated that this meeting sheds light on the recent innovations in all dental specialties, which highly benefits dentistry as a profession.

Dr. Al-Humaid added: seventeen elite speakers from inside and outside the Kingdom are participating in the scientific program to deliver fifteen scientific lectures and eleven training workshops that aim at defining and applying modern innovations in dentistry, which enhances and improves the level of professional practices among dentists. In addition, the continuous training hours have been approved by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, and it comes in more than 100 accredited continuous training hours.

On his part, Dr. Muhannad Al-Hariki, Vice Dean of the College of Dentistry for Academic Affairs, explained that this symposium comes in line with the Kingdom’s 2030 Vision and with the university's strategic plan in the field of innovation.

 Al-Hariki also mentioned that: the “Innovation track” participated with 17 innovations done by faculty members and students from Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University in several different fields of science. The College of Designs participated with 9 scientific innovations, the College of Dentistry participated with 5 innovations, and the College of Computer Science participated with 3 innovations. In such events, we aim at presenting these innovations that contribute positively to various areas of life.
