Dentistry in Saudi Arabia: Future Challenges
Introduction:
Over the past few decades Saudi Arabia has witnessed an increased focus on oral health and the social, psychological and developmental consequences of untreated oral disease. Multiple studies spanning this period have clearly identified dental caries and malocclusions as major complications of the lack of oral health awareness among children and young adolescents in Saudi Arabia. This dental symposium is designed to update practicing dentists (specialists and general practitioners), dental students, graduate students, and dental laboratory technicians on the latest techniques, research and findings related to the various dental issues facing the population in Saudi Arabia. Topics of interest include the changing face of dentistry in Saudi Arabia, improving oral health awareness, advances in preventive, interceptive and esthetic dentistry for the child and young adolescent patient and understanding how to introduce and apply them in routine dental practice.
