Course Main Objective (concise and precise statement without bullets): |
The main objective of course is This course asks why is it so necessary to tell stories? What impact does the way we tell tales have on how we view the world? How can the language or media we use influence how a story is received? This course focuses on non-print mediums used for storytelling. Storytelling in a Digital Age looks at the development of new technologies and how they were and still are employed to tell stories. Text, photos, video, audio, social media features (e.g. Tweets), and interactive elements are all examples of mediums used in digital storytelling. A digital story is a multimedia presentation with a narrative structure that incorporates a range of digital elements (a story). In response to the new demands of the information age, students need to be capable of integrating technology across the field of literature. This course will introduce to students the fundamental concepts and tools needed to create a digital story. |
