Press Layout and Design

Course Main Objective

To define the technical concept of layout
To highlight the political concept of layout.
To link between layout schools and methods.
To clarify the processes of printing, sorting and page composition.
To show character of the printed material.

Course Learning Outcomes

• 1. Knowledge and Comprehension
•    1.1Define essence of the press layout and its schools and principles.
• 2. Skills 
•    2.1 Employ the adequate typographic elements and use of the modern scientific methods of layout.
•    2.2 Employ media technology in developing skills of press layout and editing through using the different programs of design.
• 3. Values 
•    3.1 Practice spirit of dialogue and discussion and the positive disagreement among students and stimulate to innovate new methods for design.

• Rules of layout
• First and last page make-up
• Layout of the general and specialized internal pages within a daily.
• A weekly newspaper layout
• Maquette and page composition
• Printing, sorting and the fixed and changing typographic elements 28+31-30
• Training on using design programs in page layout
• Producing a daily by computer.
