Course Description
General introduction, nomenclature, bonding, structural isomerism, nomenclature and alkanes, stereochemistry and its biological applications, alkyl halides, free-radical reactions, alcohols, ethers, epoxides, sulfides and their pharmaceutical applications.
Practice/lab: Elemental analysis, functional group analysis with or without spectrometric methods
Caution: Organic samples or solvents are toxic and dangerous. The precaution must be taken and carried out in an efficient fume cupboard; disposable plastic should be worn while handling organic samples or solvents in the laboratory.
