Course Description
This course will help the student develop a strong foundation in painting themes and techniques. The students will be exposed to the major painterly traditions through lectures and examples of these different types of works. This course will include theoretical lectures and practical workshops. Understanding the visual aspects of composition, division of space, rhythm, texture, tonal gradation and expressive value of line with harmony and contrast of color are other important topics that will be covered. Introducing the different media used in painting such as acrylic, ink, watercolor and oil is one of the major topics that will be explored. Students will have the opportunity to visit galleries and artist’s workshops. They will also the opportunity to meet some renowned artists.
