Course Description
In this course students will learn the basics of the calculus of functions of one variable. They will also apply these ideas to a wide range of problems to improve their ability to think critically, to analyze a problem and solve it using a wide array of tools. The course topics include: Functions and graphs, polynomials, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions. Limits and continuity, Limits at infinity, infinite limits, properties of continuous functions, and the intermediate value theorem. The derivative, techniques of differentiation, chain rule, implicit differentiation, L'Hopital's rule, and applications. Integration, definite and indefinite integrals, fundamental theorem of calculus, integration by substitution, integration by parts, improper integrals, and applications.
