Theoretical Content
This Introduction to Biochemistry course will include, but is not limited to, the following topics: water and its importance, the chemical composition of living organisms, the study of organic compounds, enzymes, the study of hormones and their physiological effects and symptoms of vitamin deficiency.
Practical Content
The practical part of this course will include: chemical reactions of special carbohydrates, identifying and distinguishing sugars, monophonic, bilateral, quantification of sugars reduced in aqueous solutions, chemical reactions of special proteins, separating a mixture of albumin and globulin, identify and distinguish between different proteins, quantification of proteins in aqueous solutions as well as reactions of special chemical fats and fatty acids.
