Course Description
This course introduces the students to the basic principles and practices of two main accounting branches of financial and management accounting and expose them to the various accounting techniques that are used in supporting management.
Course Objective
1. Explain the nature and purpose of accounting.
2. Prepare, analyze and interpret financial statements for the operating, investing and financing decisions of a business entity
3. Explain and critically evaluate various key theories and techniques of management accounting.
4. Understand the principles of costing and apply them in a variety of scenarios.
5. Critically evaluate alternative choices for future decisions.
6. Organize, calculate and analyze information relevant to decision making.
7. Demonstrate an increasing awareness of ethics within the accounting environment.
8. Develop problem solving skills by analyzing case studies that are relevant to the course.
9. Make judgements about company performances based on financial statement analysis
