Dr. Farooq Saeed is an Associate Professor of Mechanical and Energy Engineering Department at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (IAU), Dammam, KSA. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, where he earned both his Master’s (1993) and Doctorate degree (1999) in Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering. He received his Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace with Distinction from NED University from PAF College of Aeronautical Engineering. His research interests include wind/solar/hybrid energy system design, experimental and numerical aerodynamics, CFD (steady/transient, turbomachinery, species transport, reaction & combustion), anti-icing system analysis & design, sand particle separator system design, wind tunnel testing. Dr. Farooq is also one of the main experts for IOPARA Inc., a Canadian Wind Energy and Aeronautics Consulting company. He has over 25 years of experience in design of wind energy systems and development of industry standard codes for certification of wind energy and aerospace systems. He is actively involved in research and has collaborated with NASA, Boeing, Bombardier Aerospace, MIT, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), King Abdullah City for Science and Technology (KACST), King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE) and several other organizations. He has designed wind energy systems for over 50 international wind energy industry clients as main expert consultant for IOPARA. Dr. Farooq holds 9 US patents, has contributions in several books including Wind Turbine Design and over 100 peer-reviewed publications. Dr Farooq has also been instrumental in establishing the undergraduate Aerospace Engineering Program at KFUPM and Energy (Renewable) Engineering Program at IAU. Dr. Farooq is also a program evaluator for the Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology (ABET), USA.
