Course Description

This unit provides foundation knowledge for health care providers working in the pre-hospital environment and exposes him to field expertise. It introduces students to medico-legal issues, occupational safety, scene management, documentation, therapeutic & professional communications, health responsibilities, the roles of other emergency services and the policies relevant to the pre-hospital care environment. It will also achieve as an introduction to the health care system and examine the role and function of multidisciplinary care in health care. The unit prepares students to progress towards a role as a basic Emergency Medical Technician.
